Ingredients

For the Burger Mixture
  • 1 pound Ground Turkey Use 93% lean for optimal flavor and moisture.
  • 1 cup Onion (finely diced) White, red, or yellow work great!
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro (finely chopped) Gives a fresh, herby flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Fresh is best, but pre-minced works in a pinch.
  • 1 medium Jalapeño (seeded and finely chopped) Remove seeds for milder flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin Offers warm, earthy undertones.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika (sweet or smoked) Choose according to your taste.
  • 2 tablespoons Lime Juice Always opt for fresh lime.
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese (shredded) Melts beautifully and keeps burgers moist.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
For Serving
  • 6 buns Hamburger Buns Choose standard or gluten-free.
  • 1 cup Guacamole Adds creaminess.
  • 6 slices Sliced Cheese For extra richness.
  • 1 medium Tomato Slices A must-have for balancing flavors.
  • 6 leaves Lettuce Provides a refreshing crunch.

Equipment

  • grill
  • mixing bowl
  • Meat Thermometer

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 400°F (200°C). Lightly oil the grill grates.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, finely diced onion, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, and finely chopped jalapeño. Add ground cumin, paprika, lime juice, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Divide the turkey mixture into six equal portions and shape each into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.
  4. Once your grill is hot, place the patties on it and grill for 5-6 minutes on one side. Flip carefully and cook for another 5-6 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Remove the patties from the grill and let them rest for 3-5 minutes under foil.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill for 1-2 minutes. Assemble the burgers with patties, guacamole, cheese, tomato slices, and lettuce.

Use 93% lean ground turkey for a good balance of flavor and moisture. Refrigerate formed patties for at least 15 minutes before grilling to help them hold their shape.
