- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

- In another bowl, mix applesauce, milk, melted butter, vanilla, and grated carrots until smooth.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into an 8-inch baking dish and smooth it out with a spatula.
- In a small bowl, mix together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped nuts; sprinkle over the batter.
- Carefully pour boiling water over the entire top of the dish without stirring.
- Place the dish on a baking sheet and bake for 40 to 50 minutes until set.
- Remove from oven and cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
