Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with buttermilk until all are combined.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 22 to 25 minutes.
  6. In a medium saucepan, brown the butter, then remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, maple syrup, and adjust consistency with milk.
  7. Pour the warm glaze over the cooled donut bars and let it set for about 15-20 minutes before slicing.
